Week 1

In this introductory lesson, Brittany gives participants a broad overview of Amen. — how this study came to be, what questions we will ask and attempt to answer along the way, and what to expect over the next six weeks.

Week 2

In this lecture, we expand on the previous week's homework and continue answering the question, “How do I pray?” by exploring Jesus’ guidelines for prayer in Matthew 6:9-13.

Week 3

This lecture will help Amen. participants understand how the homework from the previous week (the story of David, Bathsheba, and Solomon) fits into the trajectory and structure of the Old Testament.

Week 4

During this lecture, we will discuss what really happened to Habakkuk, understand the historical context of Lamentations, and learn the foundational building blocks of lamenting.

Week 5

In this lecture, we discuss the geopolitical shifts in the Ancient Near East that were occurring simultaneously to Habakkuk’s prophetic prayer and the cries of Lamentations. We will learn to connect extra–biblical history with the words of Scripture: biblical history is world history!

Week 6

This week, we will continue learning that biblical history is world history, as we transition out of the season of Babylonian exile, and into the post-exilic era via the Decree of Cyrus.

Week 7

This is the final, concluding lecture of Amen.! Let's discover how everything we have discussed in the Old Testament points ahead to Jesus the Messiah.
